  The Medical-Surgical Shoe
The Medical-Surgical Shoe is a bi-lateral versatile shoe which can be used for a number of conditions and can also be used as a cast shoe. The square toe design acts as a bumper to provide additional protection to the toes, eliminating toe overhang, and ensures a good left or right fit. This shoe is manufactured in black.
  • Upper Section. Made from a black Tricot foam-lined nylon mesh. The strapless fastening system can be removed and rotated to provide a left or right overlap. This versatile fastening eliminates buckle pressure and can expand to accommodate bulky dressings. The ankle strap eliminates heel slippage.
  • Sole Section. The rocker sole reduces plantar pressure on the forefoot and heel by over 25% in comparison to most standard post-op shoes. A metal shank provides more rigid control under the metatarsal heads, supporting and protecting the forefoot whilst healing. Maximum traction is provided under the mid-foot, where it is needed most, with less tread under the heel and toe for safe ambulation.
  • Removable Insole. The removable insole provides over twice the padding of some shoes and may be modified to eliminate pressure under the surgery site or in cases where wounds are present.

  The Softie Shoe
A supple, black, durable, open-toe shoe designed for use after soft tissue procedures, post-trauma, and for the geriatric and insensitive foot. It is a light, smooth, low-profile shoe.
  • Upper Section. The soft breathable upper is made of a cotton-poly blend that conforms to the abnormalities of the foot and provides cool comfort for patients. The buckle-free touch 'n' close fastening system allows for easy entry and exit and fastens along the surface of the upper for even tension and compression.
  • Sole Section. The non-slip semi-rigid outer sole permits the right amount of flexibility to provide maximum shock absorption and promote healing. To create optimum comfort, the inner sole moulds gently to the foot.

  The Hi-Boot - Flat Sole
A closed-toe boot for the treatment of diabetic and insensitive foot, or as a post-operative boot. The high top and deep opening make room for bulky dressings and most fibreglass casts. This popular shoe is available in a smart yet practical black, in a rounded-toe style.
  • Upper Section. The ankle strap, which can be positioned for left or right fastening, means that the heel is held firmly against the insole to eradicate heel slippage. The use of a buckle-free touch 'n' close fastening on the dorsal flap eliminates pressure points. The upper is made of breathable foam-lined Tricot mesh.
  • Sole Section. The inner sole contours to the foot, giving maximum comfort. The semi-rigid, non-skid outer sole permits just the right amount of flexibility to promote healing and provides optimum shock absorption.   The Hi-Boot - Rocker Sole
A closed-toe boot for the treatment of diabetic and insensitive foot, or as a post-operative boot. The high top and deep opening make room for bulky dressings and most fibreglass casts. This popular shoe is available in a smart yet practical black, in a square-toe style to prevent toe overhang.
  • Upper Section. The entire touch 'n' close fastening system can be re-positioned to provide a left or right overlap, making the shoe truly bilateral in appearance. This fastening system also eliminates buckle pressure and accommodates a large range of foot circumferences.
  • Sole Section. The modified rocker sole gives a smooth 'toe-off' for walking after surgery. It has a stiff platform thereby reducing plantar pressure on the forefoot and reducing flexion in the metatarsal region. Maximum traction is provided under the mid-foot, where it is needed most, with less tread under the heel and toe for safe ambulation. The removable insole provides over twice the padding of some shoes and can be easily modified to eliminate pressure.

  The Heelwedge Healing Shoe
This lightweight shoe may be used for any condition involving the calcaneus where it is desirable to reduce heel pressure such as ulcers, infections, trauma and surgery. It promotes healing by transferring the weight from the rear foot towards the forefoot thus reducing the load on the heel area.
  • Upper Section. Made with a breathable Tricot foam-lined black nylon mesh contouring to the foot and incorporating a padded dorsal flap. The strapless fastening system can be removed and rotated to provide a left or right overlap. This versatile fastening eliminates buckle pressure and can expand to accommodate bulky dressings. The ankle strap seats the foot firmly in the shoe and eliminates heel friction.
  • Sole Section. The short wedge redistributes the weight forward and the square-toe design provides protection and a better fit by eliminating toe overhang. The lightweight non-slip sole and rocker bottom encourages a smooth toe-off while maintaining a stable mid-foot base. The removable insole can be customised with further padding.

  The Body Armour Walker
For general casting and immobilisation purposes, and especially following surgery to the foot and ankle, this bi-lateral adjustable cast has the appearance and technology of a ski boot with the features of a hard-shell design; polyurethane compression sleeve; walker sole, and focal compression pads. It is available in two different heights: the high profile style satisfies lower-leg and foot casting situations and the low profile option is ideal for those conditions where lower leg support is not required. It is a versatile, re-usable and above all extremely economic alternative to conventional casts and immobilisation supports.
  • Fastenings. Leverage fasteners, similar to ski-boot buckles, are attached directly to the shell and provide controlled compression and immobilisation throughout the healing process. The fastenings can be continuously adjusted, click by click, as the patient's condition dictates.
  • Sleeve. The walker is supplied with a polyurethane sleeve which contours to protect and stabilise the foot and ankle. Replacement sleeves can be purchased separately, which allows the Body Armour Walker to be repeatedly fitted to subsequent patients.
  • Sole Section. The Body Armour Walker is designed with a walking sole, rounded at the heel and toe to reduce the shock of heel strike and toe-off. The ventilated heel allows air circulation for breathability.
  • Upper Section. The hard shell exterior gives the same protection as a cast but the Body Armour Walker won't lose its effectiveness as oedema subsides. Easy access is made possible by a wide opening. A set of focal compression pads are included to offload the malleoli and force fluids out of the achilles area. The protective removable tongue eases pressure from the fastenings.

  The Toe Alignment Splint
The Multifit Toe Alignment Splint is an effective and inexpensive way of obtaining high quality post-operative alignment of the toes during the healing process. It comes in an innovative one size fits all design, fitting either left or right feet, that helps maintain correction following surgery for hallux valgus, hammer toes and tailors' bunions.
  • Metatarsal Band. The elastic metatarsal band is constructed of a soft cotton cloth, with a cushioned foam interior, that fits easily into standard footwear and reduces slippage of the splint along the foot.
  • T-Strap. The special T-strap wraps comfortably around the big toe and fastens easily with hook and loop closures to the metatarsal pad.
  • Foam Loop Straps. The foam loop straps slide easily over the nail to the base of the toe and are then affixed plantarly to the metatarsal pad. Soft foam pads the top of the toes and the gentle tension reduces the incidence of recurring deformities.
  • Size Guide. The Toe Alignment Splint is available as Product Code MTA - one size fits all.

  Other Items
Among the other items stocked from the extensive Darco Multifit range are:-
  • Mouldable Insoles.
These unique insoles have been specially designed for use with the round-toed range of Medical Surgical Boots and Shoes. Made from 12mm mouldable plastazote they can be cut and/or moulded by heating to instantly customize the insole of the patient's foot.
Mouldable Insoles are available as Product Code MI: please state shoe size (2-14) when ordering.

  • Heelcups.
The Multifit Accupressure Heel Cup is designed to help control heel pain, bursitis and plantar fasciitis by a combination of the ancient idea of Chinese accupressure and the use of modern materials. This is achieved by producing a wave-like massaging action at the point of heel strike as the weight passes over the stud grid from back to front, thus stimulating blood circulation and so reducing soft tissue congestion. The heelcup is shock absorbing and therefore also helps to reduce pressure in the calcaneous.
The Accupressure Heel Cup is available in the following sizes:-
